If you are planning to host your wedding outside, you can incorporate all of your surroundings into your design.  If you are hosting your wedding inside, you can use furniture and some of the household items to help boost your decorations.  One common thing that couples enjoy doing when they are on a strict budget is creating a theme.  Most of the time, the theme will help a couple set their colors as well as what they want to use for centerpieces and even a wedding cake.

When trying to plan a wedding on a budget, the one thing that will save you the most is doing your research.  You need to look around to find the cheapest options for you.   While you are searching for various styles and designs, make a note or save a picture of the ones that spark your interest.  In order to come up with a unique design, try to find a way to incorporate all of these pictures into one, or you can use all of the designs throughout your wedding.

Of course, food is a big expense and you really have to either have your wedding at a restaurant that serves the food or have it catered.  Sometimes you can save money by hiring a caterer that is just starting out or by having your wedding in the "off season" when venues are looking for business and might be more inclined to offer a discount.

Another great wedding menu idea is to put together a potluck reception. The idea of potluck receptions is becoming a trend as of late, and they signify a genuine conventional wedding. When it comes to creating a wedding menu, it could be tricky balancing sensibleness with the future newlywed's idea of the perfect menu. There are some basic points that must be considered when deciding upon a wedding menu. Important points to think about are: 

-How many guests will be a the wedding If there are only 40 guests, a four-course meal might suffice. If there are 300 guests, a four-course meal may not be practical.

- Date and time of the reception. Normally, the time and date of the wedding will determine the type of food served. Holiday and seasonal weddings are becoming trendier these days. These kinds of details will be important when deciding upon a wedding menu. 

- Bride and groom's personal taste and favorite foods. Many couples like to include their favorite dishes or special family recipes into their wedding menu. 

- Menu serving style. Many foods are best served in a certain way. Some are best served a la carte while others are tastier served in a buffet.

There are great wedding menu ideas that will not coast an arm and a leg as well. Cheaper or more expensive versions of any dish are possible. For instance, a pasta dish could be spaghetti with a plain tomato sauce, or it could be vermicelli with a fine, rich tomato sauce made with special mushrooms, vegetables, and delicate seasonings.

- For drinks, a champagne glass with one piece of small fruit, like a cherry or raspberry, will make quite an impression. 

- Besides the wedding cake other deserts can include home-made southern style baked cookies or a frozen sherbet.
